Director, Measurement and Verification Services

We currently have an opening for a Director level position responsible for leading Neuwing’s Measurement and Verification Services:

Position Summary

Neuwing is currently seeking a senior candidate to lead the development, planning, and execution of electrical and carbon measurement, verification, and tracking projects for our energy efficiency and demand reduction clients. Position will be primarily responsible for onsite work with clients, interfacing with client groups in the data center, building management, etc., and for primary M&V and for auditing M&V activities conducted by third parties for the purpose of creating energy efficiency certificates (EECs).

Specific responsibilities will include: energy engineering services for utility and end-use clients, reviewing electric energy efficiency and carbon baseline projects, conducting onsite field inspections, installing field monitoring equipment, conducting investment grade audits, and performing other related tasks. This position will be responsible for the development of internal methodologies based on industry best practices and standard protocols, so excellent analytical and writing skills are a must.

20 – 40% travel is expected.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Coordinates staff, contractors, and client groups to develop and implement Measurement, Verification, and Tracking (MV&T) plans for energy efficiency and demand reduction programs to meet all state and federally mandated requirements. MV&T methods may include mathematical modeling to support the implementation of evaluation protocols.
  2. Coordinates staff, contractors, and client groups to obtain information (baseline and post-installation) to determine and verify the energy savings and the cost-effectiveness of energy efficiency and demand reduction programs in accordance with established protocols, standards, or by custom calculations in accordance with sound engineering and financial practices. Includes site visits to client’s facilities.
  3. Coordinates staff, contractors, and client groups to prepare MV&T reports for internal management of programs as well as meeting all state and federal compliance reporting requirements. Prepares written reports for various audiences including client senior management, partners, third-party contractors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
  4. Works with energy efficiency program managers and others to constantly improve data collection, data verification, cost-effectiveness of programs, MV&T systems & processes, etc.
  5. Works with energy efficiency program managers and others to prepare cost proposals for potential utility-sponsored energy efficiency programs.
  6. Follows and participates with industry and legislative/regulatory developments to identify, understand, and influence changes that potentially impact MV&T standards, methods, and protocols.
  7. Manages, trains, and develops staff and contractors.

Candidate Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Graduate with a four-year degree from an accredited university or college in science, engineering, architecture, business, law, finance, or related field, or be a registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Registered Architect (R.A.).
  2. More than 5 years experience in energy efficiency programs or measurement, verification and evaluation.
  3. Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP), or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  4. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  2. 5 years experience and solid understanding of utility regulatory compliance requirements.
  3. 5 years experience with information technology systems and processes for energy program management, MV&T, customer reporting and detailed compliance documentation.
  4. Data center M&V and/or data center design experience.
  5. Experience with hardware virtualization platforms (e.g. VMWare, Citrix, IBM).
  6. Energy modeling experience.
  7. Supervisory experience.
